In late November, weather such as we experienced on Saturday is an unexpected gift. Like many of my neighbors, I took advantage of the opportunity to catch up on outdoor chores and hang my Christmas lights. Throughout the afternoon I kept checking the clock to make sure I had plenty of time to get to Fort Calhoun for the tree lighting in West Market Square.
I arrived in Fort Calhoun earlier than I had planned, so I decided to make a quick trip down to Boyer Chute. As I drove into the refuge, the sun went down behind the hills, and the sky turned these amazing shades of orange, pink and crimson.
Viewing the gorgeous photos on Facebook and Nebraska Through the Lens, I know that lots of people from eastern Iowa and across Nebraska celebrated the balmy breezes and this beautiful late November sunset.
